Introduction
In this session, 2 Timothy chapter 1: 12-18, we focus on understanding the principles of loyalty and disloyalty by giving examples of people that Timothy knew. How would you encourage your mentee to continue being faithful and loyal on the journey of faith, love, and hope, despite major opposition from false teachers and when you are the mentor? are in prison for the same faith?
Objectives
By the end of this session, the learner will have:
- Understood the principles and purposes of encouraging mentees to be faithful and loyal to God and their mentors
- Appreciated the need not to be ashamed of Faith in God.

Group Study Time
2 Timothy 1: 12-18
Connecting
- Gather with two or more people for a community discovery bible study session.
- Start with a heartfelt prayer, inviting God to guide and bless your understanding.
- Explore the passage by reading it at least twice, using different Bible versions if available, then retell the story together as a group.
- Reflect and share the challenges and blessings you experienced from the previous study.
Comprehending
- Read 2 Tim 1: 12. What is shame or being ashamed? What did Paul reveal about not being ashamed of the gospel of Christ?. Read Romans 1: 16.
- Read 2 Timothy 1: 13-14. What was Timothy encouraged to keep or to Guard? How was he supposed to guard?
- Read 2 Timothy 1: 15, from examples of those who were ashamed of Jesus. How did Paul encourage Timothy to be faithful and loyal? Who were these people who deserted the faith, Paul?
- Read 2 Timothy 1: 16-18. From the examples of those who never deserted faith in God or Paul. How did their example of loyalty and faithfulness encourage Timothy to be faithful? What did Paul say about these loyal men?
