Consequences of denying the resurrection of the dead. P2
1 Corinthians 15: 12-28
Audio Summary
1 Corinthians 15:12-28
Context
- Denial of resurrection began with Pharisees bribing soldiers to lie about empty tomb, spreading falsehood before truth; kills hope, makes faith futile.
- Resurrection order: Christ firstfruits, then believers at His coming, finally unbelievers after millennium for judgment; culminates in defeating death, handing kingdom to Father.
Dangers of Denying Resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:12-28)
- Preached but Denied: Christ raised preached, yet some deny general resurrection; if no resurrection, Christ not raised.
- Consequences if No Resurrection: Preaching useless, faith useless/vain/futile; apostles false witnesses; still in sins; those asleep in Christ lost; Christians most pitiable, hope only for this life.
- Christ Raised: Indeed raised as firstfruits of those asleep; death through Adam, resurrection through Christ; all die in Adam, made alive in Christ.
- Order of Resurrection: Each in turn: Christ first, then His at coming; end when He hands kingdom to Father after destroying all rule, authority, power.
- Reign and Enemies: Must reign until all enemies under feet; last enemy death destroyed; everything under Him except Father; then Son subject to Father, God all in all.
Application
- Affirm Christ’s resurrection to maintain hope, valid faith, forgiveness, and anticipation of order: believers raised at coming, death defeated, kingdom to Father.
