Second demonic terror in the last days

Revelation 9: 13-21

Introduction

Trumpets in Israel were used to call people to worship, to war, and to travel, etc. See Jericho city and time of Joel 2:1. The first 4 trumpets 🎺🎺🎺🎺 caused natural evil during tribulation time ( Rev chapter 8). The last 3 trumpets 🎺🎷🎷 caused severe demonic activities on earth. (Rev chap 9 and 10). In this session, Revelation 9: 13-21, we focus on understanding the second terror released on the last day, which looked like a horse prepared for war, see Joel 2. These are the four commander demons who were chained together with their troops, over 200 million, at the great Euphrates river, which is at the Garden of Eden. They will be released on the last days to torment Christ-rejecting people.

Second demonic terror in the last days

Revelation 9: 13-21

Revelation 9:13-17

  • Context:
    • John’s vision in Revelation 9:13-17 continues in the tribulation, post-rapture, with the sixth trumpet judgment, the second “woe,” escalating the severity of God’s wrath through demonic forces.
    • The church, sealed by God, is absent, as these judgments target Christ-rejecting people to prompt repentance, yet many persist in rebellion.
  • Sixth Trumpet: Second Woe (Revelation 9:13-17):
    • The sixth angel’s trumpet prompts a voice from the golden altar to release four demonic commanders bound at the Euphrates River, prepared for a specific hour, day, month, and year (v. 13-15).
    • These commanders lead an army of 200 million demonic horsemen, resembling horses with lion-like heads, wearing armor of red, blue, and yellow, killing a third of humanity with fire, smoke, and sulfur from their mouths (v. 16-17).
    • Unlike the fifth trumpet, these demons are permitted to kill, using fire, smoke, and sulfur to inflict painful, treacherous deaths, yet the purpose remains to call people to repentance (v. 17).
    • Mercy is evident as God limits the destruction to a third and uses judgment to urge repentance, though many still refuse (v. 20-21).
  • Application:
    • Repent now to avoid the wrath of the second woe; surrender to Jesus, who controls even these demonic forces, and embrace His love to escape the tribulation’s escalating judgments.
