Outcomes for 1 and 2 Corinthians
We will focus on understanding the church of Jesus Christ through the case study of the Corinthian community of faith. We will examine how this community was established in Acts 18 and the initial problems that followed after it was planted, as addressed in the first and second letters to the Corinthians. The writings by Paul demonstrate how the King’s blessing (Kingdom of God) took control over the Corinthians’ five domains, namely their physical life, educational life, emotional life, social life, moral life, and spiritual life. Just as Pharaoh and his army pursued the newly freed community from Egypt, the old enemies of the Corinthian community followed and caught up with them. These enemies are: sins, the system of the world, self, and satanic spirits.
This letter was written by Paul to the believers in Corinth to address key issues of disorder, such as divisions, disunity, taking church members to court, eating foods sacrificed to idols, accommodating sexual immorality, marriage issues, corporate worship, and the resurrection of the body. These concerns were raised by the household of Chloe and in a letter sent by the Corinthian fellowship to Paul for his response.
Outcomes for 2nd Corinthians.
This letter of 2nd Corinthians shows how the King’s blessing (Kingdom of God ) would bring the heart of the father back to his sons and the hearts of the sons back to their father by healing bleeding fathers and barren sons. We will learn how a father confronts disloyalty in his sons, which robs them of the most important elements of discipleship, namely, trust and obey.
