Timothy

Outcomes for Timothy

In this module we will understand the Leadership of the church on her pilgrimage, taking the case study of the church at Ephesus after Paul was imprisoned. This is seen in 1 Timothy and 2 Timothy.

While Paul was in prison in Rome, he sent his beloved spiritual son Timothy to be the pastor of the Church at Ephesus. This letter was written to an Emerging, fearful leader called Timothy, and focuses on how the true Gospel and the Kingdom of God (rule of God on earth) shapes godly leadership and godly followership which is seen both in the practical and visible lifestyle in the only true Leader, King Jesus Christ.

This letter was written to Timothy to enable him to counter false teaching which was practiced by some church elders in Ephesus. Paul focused on understanding the key types of leadership, their qualities and their processing. Taking an analogy of factory, the processing of church leadership brings about three qualities of leaders such as

  1. First class leaders, (pastors)
  2. Second class leaders (posers) and
  3. Reject leaders (imposters)
